Scoring Clarification for 2016-17

Each Junior National Qualifier and the IMD Youth Festival will provide an opportunity for U14s to compete within the same JNQ selection criteria for points. The final points list for the U14s will be posted here at the after the IMD Youth Festival, with gold silver and bronze recognition.

Overall Series Ranking Within Each Age Class: A skier’s final overall point total for IMD ranking is determined by adding their best three (highest) point results from the selection events.  For most optimal points, a skier must complete at least three races, including one of each technique.   After the highest classic and freestyle result are determined, the next best result in either technique is added to get a point total.  An overall ranking list, high points to low, is determined for each age class.  Any skier not completing at least three races in the IMD U14 Selection Series will be at a points disadvantage.

1) Event Scoring Procedures
The Selection Criteria is designed to provide an objective assessment of competitors’ race results in a series of designated qualifying events. Each year at the annual spring IMDCC conference, a qualifying race schedule is determined. Information on the date, location, distances and formats for the qualifying series is available on the Division web site.

a) Scoring Method:Selection Races are scored using World Cup Scoring, a points by place system.

World Cup Scoring System
1st Place = 100 pts 9th Place = 29 pts
2nd Place = 80 pts 10th Place = 26 pts
3rd Place = 60 pts 11th Place = 24 pts
4th Place = 50 pts 12th Place = 22 pts
5th Place = 45 pts 13th Place = 20 pts
6th Place = 40 pts 14th Place = 18 pts
7th Place = 36 pts 15th Place = 16 pts
8th Place = 32 pts 16th Place = 15pts

And so on until the top 30 skiers are scored in an age class.  HIGH POINTS ARE GOOD!
