Regional Elite Group Camp Qualification
Eligible Skiers are as follows: athletes who competed as a 1st year U20, 1st or 2nd year U18, or 2nd year U16 in the prior season
no athlete who competed as a first year U16 or younger shall be eligible to attend under any circumstances.
Top 10 females and top 10 males selected from the five western divisions, FW, HP, IM, PN, and RM shall be invited. First priority shall go to athletes within 1 of the 5 divisions who qualify for NCAAs, Youth Olympic Games, World Junior Championships, and the U18 Nordic Nations’ Cup Trip or by winning an individual race at Junior Nationals. 2nd year U16 athletes may qualify for REG only by qualifying for one of the above trips/events OR by winning an individual U16 race at Junior Nationals.
Remaining spots at the camp shall go to athletes based on the REG Points List, which shall be created as such:
Points list from Junior Nationals, world cup score individual start distance, sprint qualifier, and mass start distance with only Western athletes included. Rank athletes based on sum of best 2 of 3 races.
Rank Western athletes from the 3 YOBs based on the first US Ski and Snowboard NRL points list to be released after Junior Nationals and world cup score this list.
Combine the Junior Nationals and NRL points lists into the REG Points List by adding the totals from the JN’s and NRL lists. In the case of a tie on the points list, the athlete with better US Ski and Snowboard NRL points shall be selected. If an athlete declines their invitation, then the next eligible skier on the list from that gender will be invited provided they are ranked within the top 200 athletes of their gender on the US Ski and Snowboard NRL. If there are no remaining skiers of that gender who meet the necessary ranking, then the camp shall be smaller than 10 athletes for that gender.
The REG Committee reserves the right to expand the quota in the event of exceptional performances from athletes within the division
